The COLABS Creative Collective aims to bring art into the everyday.
Operating from COLABS, a co-working space in the middle of the city, CCC AIR (Chapter I)’s thus began by looking inward.
Technology, the city and nature are three ideas which exist and intermingle in the contemporary era and shape our relationship
with our surroundings. Chapter I’s main theme thus was to take a closer look at the relationship between the city, technology and the natural environment the two are enveloped in.
Just like these ideas co-exist, CCC AIR hoped to enable collaboration and exchange between the artists and the art community.
CCC AIR is an annual residency program to enable and support artists. It provides a platform for artists to grow through the CCC, enabling them to grow their practice and make art
It has successfully run two editions – in 2024 and 2025, and has featured Mentor Meet-Ups with pioneers like Ali Kazim, Ayaz Jokhio, Quddus Mirza, Laila Rahman and Faaria Rehman- Salahuddin
The CCC boasts a distinguished panel of advisors, including senior artists, educators,
and collectors, who offer invaluable support for the organization’s initiatives, direction,
and growth.

Faaria Rehman Salahuddin is a C-level professional with a career spanning 28 years in
banking, education and entrepreneurship with leading institutions like ANZ Grindlays,
SCB, HBL, UBL, Bank Alfalah Ltd, LUMS and Aitchison College.
Her expertise lies in driving organizational turnarounds through strategic realignment and
synergies of business lines. Faaria is also an advisor to the Lahore Biennale Foundation
(LBF) and is an avid collector of art.
Ali Kazim (b. 1979) currently lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan. He received his BFA degree from
the National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan in 2002 and an MFA from the Slade School of
Fine Art, London, UK, in 2011.
Kazim’s work has been shown internationally in both solo and group exhibitions, and is held in
public collections worldwide.
Laila Rahman is the Head of Printmaking & Digital Media at NCA. She earned her BFA
there, studied painting at Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts & Design, and received her
Masters in Fine Art with Distinction from the Slade School of Fine Art.
Rahman is a Fulbright Scholar from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Her
work is in major art collections – the House of Commons, the Victoria Albert Museum, and
the Transcultural Gallery, UK and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, USA.
Quddus Mirza is a celebrated visual artist, art critic and independent curator. After
receiving his MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art London, he has exhibited
worldwide, curated landmark shows, and shaped generations of artists.
His works are in major collections, he writes for leading international publications,
and teaches at BNU, Lahore.
Rohma Khan is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and Associate Professor, leading the
Interdisciplinary Expanded Design and Art (IEDA) program at BNU.
She serves as the Director of Programs for UNESCO’s Chair for Inclusion Through Arts,
promoting inclusive artistic practices. Her work has been exhibited globally at the Memphis
College of Art and Design, Kunsthalle Wien, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Unza Saleem, a British artist and UAL graduate, intricately weaves influential memories and emotions into her work. Drawing inspiration from her half-Indian, Gujrati heritage, she incorporates traditional elements and symbols to craft narratives that resonate with her audience. Thus, Saleem portrays South Asian women as powerful figures, illuminating their presence in a complex society.
She has also collaborated with Hugo Boss and Ogilvy UK, bringing her distinctive artistic vision to broader commercial
projects
Ali Hamza is a multidisciplinary artist, and
has studied Fine Arts from NCA. Hamza specializes in abstract paintings and has experimented in ceramics, sculpture, theatre and music. His work stems from the flux in nature and is translated on to the canvas typically in monochromatic hues.
Hamza’s works have been displayed in group shows at PNCA, Shakir Ali Museum
and the Embassy of France
Roheen is a multimedia artist, specializing in visual communication design, animation, and painting. She has studied Fine Arts and holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia Arts from NCA.
Her artistic oeuvre uses a diverse range of mediums, and fuses the human form with the natural world, crafting a tapestry of interconnected narratives. This symbiotic relationship invites viewers into a realm where reality and imagination intertwine
seamlessly.
Moin Rehman has studied architecture and visual communication design, and holds a distinction in Fine Arts from NCA. His surreal works, created from memory and imagination, primarily utilize acrylic paints and archival pens.
Rehman has excelled in competitions and showcased his work at exhibitions like ‘Asli Contemporary,’ ‘Broadcast Vol.1,’ ‘Elsewhere,’ and ‘Another Space Another Time.’ His debut solo show, ‘Ruins to Revelations,’ was also a huge success.
Aleezah Qayyum is a Lahore-based artist who graduated from the National College of Arts. Her work examines fluid textures to create an abstract figurative language which reflects themes of sensuality and
mutability.
She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and has won the Anna Molka Painting Award (runner-up) in 2022, and the Doha Youth Innovation Award in
2019.
Ubaid Tariq is a visual artist from National College of Arts, Lahore. His practice revolves around disrupting established norms and constructs, and his artworks give form to the complexities of human
experiences within contemporary society.
Tariq uses unexpected materials to reveal
overlooked perspectives and subvert traditional narratives. His work aims to create space for open conversations, inviting viewers to connect and understand the forces that shape us all
Tahir Zaman (b. 1994 in Chitral, Pakistan) is a multidisciplinary artist, Zaman holds a BFA in Painting from NCA Lahore, and an MA in Art and Design from BNU.
His practice navigates the intersections of nature and the built environment, exploring identity, cultural memory, and the tension
between tradition and modernity. Working across video art, installations, photography and sculpture, Zaman creates immersive experiences that reflect the fragility of both personal and collective identities, particularly within communities undergoing rapid transformation.
Born in 1996 in Quetta, Adnan Ali Umrani hails from Naushehro Feroze, Sindh. He received his Master’s in Visual Arts from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2022, after completing his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from UCAD, Islamia University Bahawalpur in 2020.
Due to his father’s profession, Adnan moved across various cities in
Pakistan, frequently visiting railway
stations, which inspired his journey.
Specializing in graphite and charcoal
on paper, he captures the fragility of
time. He debuted with “Broadcast II”
at O Art Space, Lahore. Umrani
received a scholarship from The King’s
Foundation and now lectures at NCA,
Rawalpindi.
Kainat Atta (b. 2000) is a visual artist based in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed her BFA from the College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab, in 2022 and MA in Visual Arts from NCA Lahore in 2024.
Through her art practice, Kainat is keen on effectively communicating and depicting homesickness. She crafts the interplay of familiar yet disjointed elements and spaces, serving as a metaphor for the emotional tension surrounding domestic life. Kainat’s artworks have been exhibited locally and internationally at art organizations, including O Art Space, Rangrez Art Gallery, VM Art Gallery, Kaleido Kontemporary, Numaishgah, and the Open Gallery in England
Gullmakai Tareen was born in a tribal village in District Dukki, Balochistan, Pakistan. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, with a major in Painting, from the University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences in Quetta. She later pursued her Master’s degree at the National College of Arts in Lahore, Pakistan.
Her work centers on the journey of healing, using a variety of materials that align with her concepts and give meaning to everyday symbols. These symbols are employed in her art to convey powerful messages. Her video art explores societal structures, stereotypes, and the cultural and religious traditions that affect women in our society.
Murtaza Zaidi (b. 1997) is a Lahore- based visual artist and educator specializing in printmaking, mixed media, and contemporary South Asian art. A 2022 graduate of the National College of Arts, his work explores Islamic rituals, collective
memory, and the cultural histories of the subcontinent.
He has exhibited in New York, London, and Lahore, including the Printpal Project with the Slade School of Fine Art. Murtaza also leads workshops and community-based
projects, especially with youth. His teaching emphasizes material exploration, critical thinking, and bridging traditional techniques with contemporary expression. He remains active in both studio and educational settings
Aleena Rahman (b. 1999) is a Lahore-based visual artist exploring filtered memories and overlooked moments through enamel paints, oil pastels, and block printing. Her layered compositions question personal and cultural norms by blurring the line between the acceptable and the taboo.
She holds a BFA from the University of the Punjab and a Master’s in Visual Arts from the National College of Arts, Lahore. Aleena has exhibited across Pakistan, including at VM Art Gallery, O Art Space, and Alhamra Arts Council. She currently works as a teacher’s assistant at NCA and previously served as Social Media Executive at Cresset Technologies.
Seen From Another Life began with the aim of exploring how nature and culture weave their way through our technological city. As each artist dug deeper into their practices to root out these themes, what emerged was not a lucid vision but fragments of memories, as if from another life. Like tales reminiscent of when the Ravi flowed freely or when belief was as close as a prayer, these scenes stick out like weeds in concrete – unnatural at first, yet with a defiance that is demanded in the chaos of the city.
Catch a glimpse of the vast ether in Ali’s work, and look deeper into the amorphous figures brought to life by Aleezah. Ubaid’s work serves as a reminder of our cultural roots and their everchanging, resilient nature; Unza’s paintings channel the same dynamism of identity and faith in her own colours. Moin’s work is an intricate and historicised representation of human society; Roheen’s shifts the focus to the relationship between humans and nature, spinning a narrative of fear, loss and love.
While each of their creations stands tall on its own, the curation holistically is meant to invoke a sense of curiosity about our place in the natural and urban worlds, and to encourage us to reimagine the counterintuitive, and often destructive divide between the two.
