Pakistani-American visual artist Amber Arifeen, Master’s graduate from Wimbledon College of Arts, focuses on South Asian female subjects through feminist practice. Her work centers on challenges women face navigating Pakistan’s changing social landscape, where economic development and internet expansion create exposure to outside influences while society clings to traditional religious and patriarchal values. Arifeen explores how young women survive these opposing realities, finding ways to exist in self-constructed and imposed in-between spaces between shifting norms.
